Bromelain vs trypsin-chymotrypsin in management of complications following surgical removal of mandibular third molar

Surgical removal of third molars is still the most common routine surgical procedure done by oral and maxillofacial surgeons which usually associated with postoperative sequelae. In order to avoid or minimize post-surgical complications such as swelling, pain trismus, patients are advised use proteolytic enzyme NSAID’s along antibiotics. 50 who have bilateral symmetrical impacted mandibular were included in study. Post operatively, all given antibiotics analgesics for 5 days. Patients bromelain days after on one side trypsin-chymotrypsin other an interval 21 between two procedures. recalled day 1, 3 7 assessment post- operative swelling based measuring inter-incisal distance, visual analogue scale and, facial reference points. Data was gathered statistical using SPSS software descriptive statistics chi square test. The conclusion drawn from study that has a significant effect mouth opening molar than chymotrypsin. We suggest its usage reduction post operatively molar. However further studies larger sample size randomizations required confirm same.
